A Cell Phone is a Terrible Thing to Lose

I didn’t get a cell phone until 2004, when I was a freshman in college. I have pretty much broken, lost or somehow damaged nearly every phone that has had the misfortune of belonging to me. If there is some kind of Toy Story shenanigans going on at the T-Mobile store, my name is whispered in hushed tones by hot pink flip phones who fear to be purchased by me. My alternative theory is that the things that I say or text with my cell phones are so inane that they all commit suicide rather than be owned by me for a period of longer than six months. Hostage Situation: A Primer on the US Debt Ceiling Crisis

There’s been a lot of talk in the news regarding the current Debt Ceiling negotiations going on, at least here in the United States. I understand that there are a number of people that don’t understand exactly what this is or what it means, so I thought I would explain it.

Futurama is More Realistic than Star Trek

One Small Step

Back in 1999, when we were all partying like that’s what year it was, a scrappy little cartoon came out from artist Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons. QOTD: What Would You #AskObama?

I’m sure that I’m not the only one that had an email from the White House land in my inbox today, pimping the President’s Twitter Town Hall. Today at 2pm Eastern time, President Obama will answer questions generated by the Twitter-verse.  Allegedly, the folks at Twitter have worked up a way to make sure that he gets questions that are being asked frequently and hit with the #AskObama hashtag. I’m sure they actually have, I just stink at technology. Continue reading
