Apparently Suing Your Co-op Board for Takeout Losses is a Thing Now

Maybe we can file this under “Only in Manhattan” or “Things only the insanely rich will think of?” At any rate, Beverly Taki and her husband, Louis Maione of Park Avenue feel they should be reimbursed by their co-op board for $27,000 worth of takeout meals. And I’d like my co-op board to pay me in diamond stud earrings for every grass clipping that lands on my welcome mat. Yes, thank you. Continue reading

Some Reflections on The Bull

Auturo DiModica is an Italian born artist who sculpted Charging Bull (seen above) on his own initiative and at his own expense. In 1989, he just up and “gave” it to the people of the City of New York by having it transported to a spot in front of the New York Stock Exchange and just left it there. The NYPD impounded it. Public outcry saved the bull from oblivion and it was mounted in Bowling Green square, about 3 blocks south from where DiModica had left it. Continue reading

Prom Season!

Some guys are so thoughtful - his eyes match her dress!
The dresses! The suits! The music! The barfing!

Whaddaya got for us for prom stories? Names can be changed to protect the innocent, um, ok, the vengeful.

I don’t have any particularly good stories, but I did have some nice dresses, some nice dates, and one really awful date, but no need to go into that story, let’s just say he was conversationally challenged, as in, he didn’t have any. Continue reading

Is the Person Responsible for Your Pension a Psychopath?

Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark!
Your business card just bumped you to the top of my ruin-financially-or-murder list.

You probably heard a few weeks ago that at least 10% of the people working in the financial sector are psychopaths. You were probably not surprised by that. In fact, if you’re anything like me, you were probably a little surprised that there weren’t more Patrick Batemans running around Wall Street feeding cats to ATM machines. Continue reading

Sad Old Hate-Machine Newt Gingrich Charging for Pictures and Cutting Staff

By this point in the evening you godless liberals have likely already been made aware that Newt Gingrich is making the curious move of charging the few followers he still has $50 for the privilege of being photographed with him. That’s not the only change taking place around under the large rocks from which Gingrich HQ operates. See, Newt is a True Conservative, and knows that one can’t just address a budgetary issue through raising revenues. There must also be cuts to wasteful, inefficient programs, which is the perfect allegory for Newt’s entire campaign. Continue reading

Maggie Gallagher Is a Loaded Diaper

Maggie Gallagher, founder of the National Organization for Marriage and all-around bigot, wrote an opinion article for uExpress about the recent Starbucks annual shareholder meeting. Not one to bury the lede, she titled her piece “DUMP STARBUCKS.” Obviously she’s got a thing or two to learn about subtlety.

She name-checks a Baptist preacher, then goes on to say that one of her minions, Jonathan Baker, attended this meeting and asked if the board really approved the statement that gay marriage is “core to the Starbucks brand.” She reports that Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz replied in the affirmative, and was applauded. Continue reading
