Kameron Slade is in fifth grade at PS 195 in the Rosedale section of Queens. Given the freedom to choose a topic for a speech competition, young Kameron chose to write about same-sex marriage. He won his class’s competition and was expected to deliver his winning speech in a competition being held school-wide. The school’s principal put a stop to that, telling Kameron’s mother that the speech was inappropriate. Continue reading

Maggie Gallagher, founder of the National Organization for Marriage and all-around bigot, wrote an opinion article for uExpress about the recent Starbucks annual shareholder meeting. Not one to bury the lede, she titled her piece “DUMP STARBUCKS.” Obviously she’s got a thing or two to learn about subtlety.
She name-checks a Baptist preacher, then goes on to say that one of her minions, Jonathan Baker, attended this meeting and asked if the board really approved the statement that gay marriage is “core to the Starbucks brand.” She reports that Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz replied in the affirmative, and was applauded. Apparently the data from states where gay marriage is already recognized shows that, when it comes to who’s actually tying the knot, the lesbians are jumping on board at a much higher rate than gay men.
In Connecticut, for example, 3,252 lesbian couples have wed since 2008, when same-sex marriage was legalized, compared with just 2,053 gay guys…
Marital data obtained by The Post show a stark, 3-to-2 ratio of lesbian marriages, compared to all- male unions.
I wonder if in Real rural America we’re on the verge of seeing shotgun gay weddings.
So I hear New York State passed some law or something? I woke up this morning to find Crasstalk excitedly celebrating the passage of marriage equality in New York, and deservedly so. (Don’t get too excited though, New York gays. The associated taxes and fees that Albany will inevitably add to applying for a marriage license may cause you to reconsider your feelings on getting married there. You might be able to be legally married now, but it’s still New York after all. Everything is treated as an opportunity to generate new tax revenues.) Continue reading
After a long wait, a couple of false starts and lots of preening on the senate floor, the New York State Senate passed the Marriage Equality Bill 33-29.
Excuse me while I WHOOZAH! It is official. You may now marry your shoe, dog, computer etc. Lulz wut? You just wanted to marry the adult person you loved? Aaah well you can do that too. But you you wouldn’t want to disappoint the Archbishop Timothy Doland, David Tyree and company would you? Let’s have some of that anarchy they warned about. Get to the drinking and the gay marrying of everything New York! You finally earned some of that “Progressive State” cred.
What? I had to. Comment
As expected, New York State Assembly passed a gay marriage bill last night granting the right to same sex couples to marry, 80-63. Now it heads to the State Senate for a final vote. This isn’t the first time at the rodeo for same sex couples, as the Assembly previous passed a bill “allowing” same sex marriage in New York back in 2009, which, among a whole lot of party in-fighting, failed miserably in the Senate.
Back in 2006, New York’s highest court ruled there was no constitutional right to same sex marriage. In 2008, then-Governor Paterson issued a directive requiring New York to recognize same sex marriages performed in other states. (He didn’t see a difference). Continue reading
