The Daily Sausage – Mitt Romney is a Batman villain, Health Care Repeal XXXIII Edition, a Must Read from Judge Richard Posner, and a Chart about Abortion

Per GI, this article will no longer be referring to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as either “Sandwiches” or “Governor Sandwiches”, as sandwiches are delicious and nutritious, and Chris Christie is neither of those things. Henceforth, Governor Christie will be referred to as Governor Chris “Hamburgler” Christie, or just “Governor Hamburgler.” Thank you, and welcome to the Daily Sausage. Continue reading

Disgraced Rhode Island State Legislator Harnesses Power of the Internet to Act Like 14 Year Old Boy

Yesterday this writer was on Twitter when I saw a tweet from Rhode Island state legislator Dan Gordon (R-71) about the US House vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Admittedly, I was cranky, and after a day of reading bad economic news I felt a little fed up with the GOP’s continued bitching about the health care bill when Americans need some real leadership. I shot back a cranky response.

Robert Blake Goes Nuts on National Television

Last night, Robert Blake went on Piers Morgan to promote his new book…I don’t even know what it’s called because Blake drew more attention to his comments on his wife’s murder than anything else (his attire was also an interesting choice, but I digress).

Blake was arrested in 2002 for the murder of his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley—a charge for which he was acquitted of in 2005. While admitting that he didn’t love her and that she was a con-artist, he did not appreciate the line of questioning regarding the night she was killed. Now, someone who has been on trial and acquitted of committing murder would likely be defensive about the suggestion that he was somehow involved in the murder. However, it’s probably best to not show how scary you can actually be while defending your name. It was, in a word, chilling. Videos after the jump. Continue reading

Mitt Romney’s Sour Grapes Response to NAACP Booers

What happens when you come before an organization that is about the advancement of African-Americans, a large percentage of whom voted for the current president, and you disparage him in your speech by using the weird, teabagger-esque colloquialism for the Affordable Health Care Act, and call it “Obamacare?” Yeah, well you get booed. So what’s your response? Diminish the entire group by saying they’re just out looking for a free ride. Continue reading

NYPD Caught Exaggerating Anti-Terrorism Victories

Last month The Daily Beast published a a profile of New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. The report slavishly praised Kelly for his anti-terrorism track record and for the city’s success in stopping terrorist plots. The article also repeated the often-cited claim that since 9/11 the NYPD has foiled 14 separate deadly plots against New Yorkers. There is only one problem with this claim. It isn’t true. When Hoarding Hits Home

I get no pleasure from watching the television shows about hoarders. For most, the shows will motivate them to clean and toss away unneeded junk, making them feel better about their lives. For me, it makes me want to curl up in bed and take a nap. Why is this? My father is an honest to goodness, pathological hoarder and my mother in her codependency has become a willing participant. Growing up in the household, I developed tendencies to want to hoard, but work on fighting them daily.

I’m not sharing this to shame my parents or make fun of them. Although, the fake Christmas tree left standing in June, that my mother will buy ornaments for year round, has become an absurd joke between my sister and I. I share this, because there is a side most don’t necessarily see on these shows. And that is the humanity behind the hoards. What has brought people to live in homes where they literally have to crawl over things to get from one side of the house to another. Continue reading
