Your Conservative Blog Is Bad And You Should Feel Bad

Momof3 posted a link to “a right wing blog that [she’s] not terribly ashamed of.”

I’m always game for opposing viewpoints, but within the first minute of perusing the article titles, I knew that this was a comedy gold mine. Not because it was particularly funny or interesting, but rather that it was the same conservative tripe wrapped in a veneer of disrespectability, which is admittedly something new.

Mayor of Toronto Chases and Threatens Reporter

The Mayor of Toronto is a massive embarrassment to my city. Yesterday, one of the Toronto Star’s city hall politics reporters filed a story that Rob Ford wants to buy a slice of the park adjacent to his house so that he can build a bigger security fence. The reporter behind the story, Daniel Dale (and this is according to his own account, which differs from the mayor’s), went out to the park of which Ford wants to buy a piece and was taking pictures of the park and, it would seem likely, Ford’s fence, for the story. An Open Letter to Kim Kardashian from the Ghost of My Mother

My mom was a tough lady. Born to genocide survivors from Turkey in pre-war Palestine and raised in the post-war West Bank she grew up with loss always on the brink, and a sense garnered out of necessity that one can make lemonade out of even the tartest, dirtiest lemons. She was also very, very ill from a young age, one of the first in her generation to be formally diagnosed with SLE (as opposed to “rheumatism”), but regardless of her life’s seemingly endless challenges, she went to school in the states, graduated Magna cum Laude, and was a highly respected linguist and speech pathologist. Along the way she married my dad- a schlubby, sweet Mormon guy (I know), and had me. So it goes.

She was also a bitch of the first order. A woman who inspired fear and respect. She ruled the household with an iron fist clad in a velvet Chanel glove, and made it a point of pride to stand any man down who got in the way of her or her husband’s success. Continue reading →

Pick Mitt Romney’s Campaign Theme Song

Seeing as how the GOP nominating season is effectively over now that Rick Santorum is done talking about coal miner’s ovaries or whatever, the Romney campaign can now focus on important things. Important things like sending a bus to follow the President around at his appearances, or trying to make a thing of the fact that the President ate dog meat as a child.

Really, the campaign should focus on a much more important next step: picking a campaign theme song. A campaign theme song can tell voters so much about who you are as a candidate. What a week of some cartoon-worthy political events.  War on Women. Failed Missile Launches. Return of the Buffet Rule. Santorum bowing out. GSA party scandal. Zimmerman arrested. Crazy stuff makes for some good cartoons. I invite you to post cartoons you find worthy as well.

As a reminder before you start Thunderdoming — I will certainly be posting cartoons that I do not agree with the opinions of the artist. So please do not make the assumption that by posting a cartoon here that I agree with it. I simply found it interesting, enraging, thought-provoking or amusing.
