This is the final post of the series that examines topics from the perspective of the characters in the upcoming novel, The Paths of Marriage which will be for sale starting 1 October 2014.
“How to Start a Conversation – America versus France” is written from the point of view of the character, Audrey Girard.
I am French. Not rude, French. Yes, there is a difference. As a psychologist, I can say with confidence the difference is almost always perception. Most of my patients come to me with a dramatic story of social isolation, or betrayal, or deception. While some of these patients certainly have actual mental illnesses, far more simply perceive something much too severely compared to what was intended. That is what we French think of your reactions to our culture, my dear Americans.

What could be considered one of the most batshit crazy pressers this blogger has ever endured, began with hollow recognition of the carnage that unfolded a week ago today at Sandy Hook elementary and the supposed respectful silence the NRA showcased in its aftermath, and ended with a plan that would see everyone from police, to firemen, and somewhat shockingly, armed patriotic “volunteers,” patrolling America’s schools.

Oh, dear Lord. There’s a whole new word out there for Republicans who don’t believe today’s job numbers. Truthers. That’s not very creative. It would be much more impressive say they went with “Jobbers” or “Number Floggers” or “Grouchy Guys in Armchairs.” Well, whatever. They’re not the only ones. Some Democrats are saying it’s possible Mitt Romney, soul-sucking, underworld cretin, and candidate for the Presidency, may have cheated during the debate Wednesday night, Palin style!

Don’t you love when presidential hopefuls play coy and say, “Oh, no, I’m not technically running for public office…I’m just taking this huge bus and ramming it into every Northeast state for miles hoping you’ll see me and think, ‘Well, that’s nifty.'”

There was a tie for runner up. The first contender was this wonderful selection from Daisy_Sage.
P_mouse tied her effort with this “classic.”
While both of these efforts were formidable, the championship went to Momof3wildkids for this winning(?) selection.
