The CDC reports that 16 people have died due to a listeria outbreak traced to Colorado cantaloupes. It’s being called the deadliest food outbreak in more than a decade.

Zombies will never die…well, duh; Republicans want Hollywood to like them, or well, just anybody; NBC attempts to copy Fox’s test answers; Tom Cruise to act his life story; and Chuck Lorre wants you to feel his pain.
Today’s Hollywood dish needs brains.
Fox News CEO Roger Ailes seems to think so. Or is this purely a red herring since the news channel is largely known for shouting heads Bill O’Reilly, Pundit Sarah Palin, and mean-spirited minotaur, Sean Hannity. Yeah, none of these people seems primed to take a more centrist viewpoint. However, according to Ailes, he is quietly repositioning the cable-news channel.
What exactly does this mean? Continue reading
You know that opening scene in that not great movie The Way of The Gun where Ryan Phillippe, doosh, has this crazy, foul-mouthed banter with this dark-haired, lady-cretin who rages and rants in a way that is incredibly awful, yet shamefully funny in its offensiveness, but then a few years later lots of people love her for it, and yes, well, many of us said, “Hey, Sarah Silverman was that sick, twisted chick from the opening scene of that movie all my stoner friends told me about. Yeah, that’s her. Wow. She’s come a long way.” Well none of that happened with this Whitney Cummings person.
Hey, you know I’m as mad as the next gal about what’s going on with the current tax debate. Sure, yes, it floors me that some jerkoff multi-millionaire claims that in suffering a tax increase his net income would be diminished down to $400,000 after he feeds his family. That’s some crazy logic right there. No, seriously, that is something only an out of touch maniac would say. But is taking to Wall Street in some undefined protest, led by an anonymous internet movement, without focused demands or plan other to say “Thumbs down to Corporations!” really the answer frustrated, unemployed, mostly left-leaning Americans should take?
Seems like a long shot to me.
In Hollywood’s efforts to endlessly mine the rapidly decaying corpse of the 1980’s, movie execs have found yet another morsel to sink their teeth into. Sheesh. What the hell will be left by the end of all this? Frigging Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins?! Perhaps. Fred Ward and Wilford Brimley were heroes to some! No. Anyway, so yeah, Scarface, it’s your turn. Continue reading
NBC unveiled it’s new Not Mad Men Drama called Not Mad Men Playboy Club (Really? Then explain this right here, NBC!). So what did we think of the show? Were the bunnies hot? Was Eddie Cibrian a smoldering cad? Did the show succeed at anything at all?
Let’s find out if NBC has a chance of winning over salty AMC fans. Continue reading
So a little thing called the Emmys happened on Sunday night. There were scary moments, shameful things, a little fun, and Amy Poehler setting the awesome bar way high. Also, in other parts of Hollywood, Nic Cage writhes in a coffin; shows about fathers are getting help from a famous Dogg; Hollywood should just say what they mean; Television success can be had, one channel proves it, and how do you pronounce Versace? Is it really Ver-sassseee?
There is no way around it. There are just some things that are too awful to exist. Like legitimately sent to kill everyone in its wake. Denny’s is just such a place. Continue reading
Now, we’ve long discussed the conundrum that is the singing actor vs. the acting singer. Some can pull both off very nicely. We like it when NPH does it yes? Yes. We can even say that we like it when Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway take to crooning. So it’s a splendid thing when you get two really good actors who can also belt out a song. Did you know that Robert Downey Jr. is a halfway decent singer? Meaning if you didn’t know it was him, you wouldn’t think it was him. Here check it out. Then there is a list of actors who should really just pick one or the other. We could put J.Lo in that category. The bigger list, however, is the list of actors who just shouldn’t sing again ever. Continue reading
