Last Friday I spent the day “working from home” because I was anxiously awaiting my new iPhone 4S. It arrived around 1:30 PM Central and activated after about five angry hours. iOS 5 has some nifty new features, many of which where previously available if you got them by jail-breaking your iPhone. The hows and whys of which are a little outside of the scope of this post. Here’s a keen video about why you’d want to jail-break your iPhone, in case you live under a rock or haven’t been paying attention. Continue reading

It seems Mitt Romney is suffering from a case of what I call ‘Not Christian Enough’. At the recent Values Voters Summit, Baptist minister Robert Jeffress took a swipe at Mr. Mittens calling him:
“a good, moral person, but someone who is part of a cult” [Bloomberg.com]

I’ve been terribly busy this week but after this Thursday the 22nd I should be able to package up something fresh, antibiotic free and humanely raised in the way of CT articles. Until then I’ll leave you with this image of Presidential Hopeful Michele Bachmann congressing with constituents from within the cooler. I will say it’s very clear that Marcus didn’t choose this outfit for her.
You know the rules for Open Caption, don’t you? There aren’t any! I like my Open Caption like a GOP Candidate: verbose, ridiculous and crazy. Comment.
I’m sure most people are familiar with the ubiquitous set top box lounging around or near their television eating around 19 volts and putting off quite a bit of heat. Most people probably figure these are just part of the package with having cable service. A necessity that we’ve all come to terms with. Well not me. I stood up and challenged the system. I wanted something better for my house. Will no one rid me of these turbulent devices? Continue reading
Which is really a relief since we were all taking her so super seriously. That is, until her latest comments regarding the recent natural disasters, one of which has a death toll of 24.
“I don’t know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We’ve had an earthquake; we’ve had a hurricane. He said, ‘Are you going to start listening to me here?’ [Politico]
This latest comment would seem to suggest Michele Bachmann is living on the Fred Phelps side of town. Most astoundingly she seems to believe in a God which has no better means to communicate with creation than to directly cause pain and suffering. It certainly paints a clear picture of the old school, ‘God is Angry’ message at the core of her beliefs.
Google’s Android mobile operating system totally owned Apple’s iOS software in market share last quarter, research firm NPD has announced. According to the report, Android invaded 52 percent of all the smartphones sold in the U.S. last quarter, bitch slapping iOS down to only 29 percent market share. BlackBerry OS came in a cheap third at 11 percent share, according to NPD. Windows Phone 7, Windows Mobile, and WebOS all tiny piles of suck, each with under 5 percent market share. We know that number isn’t going up for WebOS anytime soon. [ CNET ] Continue reading
The CDC and the National Center for Health Statistics is reporting that 1 in 10 children in the US are now diagnosed with ADHD. The report doesn’t say more children are believed to have this condition, but that simply more children are being diagnosed. This is good news for these children since the treatment and therapy available now for ADHD is much better than it was just 15 years ago. The numbers for boys and girls with ADHD are rising in concert, while the numbers in minorities have recently risen to catch up with the rest of the population, with the exception of Mexican children. This is thought to be due to lower frequency of doctor’s visits for that segment of population. This would also seem to reinforce that the rise seen here is merely reflecting a higher rate of diagnosis. [ MSNBC ]
Rick Perry mugged for the crowd while giving out canned answers to questions in New Hampshire today. One little boy [through his mother] asked about Evolution and the age of the Earth. Rick Perry seemed quite ready to speak to this question, answering it before the boy could follow the prompting of his mother.
“That’s a theory that is out there — and it’s got some gaps in it. In Texas we teach both Creationism and Evolution. Because I figure you’re smart enough to figure out which one is right.” [ USA Today ]
This is precisely why we have so many 10 year-old teachers down here in Texas. They’re just great at figuring things out. Here’s something Rick Perry should be trying to figure out: How’s he going to get elected with less than 40% of the Latino vote?
If you were waiting for an affordable tablet to hit the market in the US, this may be your time. Acer’s new Iconia Tab A100 is now on sale and starting price is $330 (or slightly more from Amazon. Front and rear-facing camera’s, dual core processor, microSD and micro USB 2.0 and a usable display at 1024×600 make this the first tablet I’ve considering purchasing since the iPad2 sold out while I was still standing in line.
