KnightoftheBurningRiver has let his iPod take him on a road trip down to 1998. Through some boring series of events, I found myself searching for the Billboard Top 100 songs from that year. What a trip down Memory Lane that was. Continue reading
Reasons I moved back to New Orleans included Mardi Gras, the food, the weather and being closer to my family. In just about that order. More than Christmas and almost more than my birthday, Mardi Gras is my favorite time of the year. It’s so magical that just about anything can happen. I’ve heard several stories of people who came for Mardi Gras and just never left. I don’t need any more reasons to be here, but just in case you do, here are 10 of them (not that there aren’t more). A few weeks ago I took a drive from San Antonio to New Orleans. This is a drive I’ve done numerous times, but not since I graduated from college in 2006. Back then, I would bring my big ‘ol CD case that held 64 CDs and pick out my favorite albums as my road companions and just drive for 8 or 9 hours. This time I decided that I would find an audiobook to keep me entertained for the nearly 600 mile trip.
After perusing the iTunes audiobook store, I picked out Never Have I Ever: My Life (So Far) Without a Date by Katie Heaney. The book outlines the first 25 years of Heaney’s life without ever having a date. Being able to relate to this author’s Forever Alone status, I thought I would give this one a try. Continue reading

I was a little crazed for most of the first quarter of the game as I finished up the last of my party snacks, so I may have missed a couple good ones, but I thought the commercials were a little “meh” this year. However, I did really like the RadioShack one where the 80s called, asked for their store back and then numerous stars from that decade raided the store. Continue reading
Here we are, folks. The biggest (professional) football game of the year. Some of us will watch for the game itself, some will watch for the commercials (me) and some will just be using this as an excuse to party and get drunk (also me). Continue reading
Typically the Grammys are a much more laid back awards atmosphere than the Oscars, so attire standards are much more loose. Doesn’t mean people can’t make a few missteps though. But also, they can knock it out of the park in a different way.
Let’s not limit this post to the fashuns. Please post your favorite and not so favorite performances.
I heard this one was full of the scandal. Continue reading
Let’s take the time to review the, ahem, fashuns from the Golden Globes last night. Continue reading
When I got to grad school my parents gave me many things that would be useful in the kitchen. One of my favorite things is the Better Homes and Garden Cook Book. Seems boring, but there are lots of good recipes in there. This one is a favorite I make a lot when appetizers are necessary, especially during football season. Continue reading
