QOTD: What was your favorite Super Bowl commercial?

I was a little crazed for most of the first quarter of the game as I finished up the last of my party snacks, so I may have missed a couple good ones, but I thought the commercials were a little “meh” this year. Why I Disabled AdBlock and How it Could Be Done Better

Adblockplus_iconI was an Adblock Plus user for as long as I can remember. But Adblock comes at a price, the sites that provide content can’t do it for free.

It’s true that Adblock made the web a much simpler place with far less clutter, no shouting flashing banners and annoying giant yellow bouncing things. For a long time I thought I was an ethical ad blocker because I disabled on sites that I frequented and liked, but otherwise I kept the default setting as block all ads for all other sites. However, Fiat didn’t have a brand presence in the US prior to these commercials airing, so it would have been wise for them to use these first few commercials to establish their brand identity. Also, both the Fiat 500 and the Fiat 500 Abarth look pretty much exactly the same, so to the casual observer all of the following commercials could be for the same car. Continue reading

Introducing the MLK Day of Sale

As we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, some of us may ponder what his legacy to our country and by extension our world should be. How do we honor a man who is more than a figure of the civil rights movement, and an advocate for nonviolence, but a symbol of racial discourse in this country and around the world whose impact transcends the era in which he lived, and to that end, an observance of who we should strive to be in the way in which we respect, honor, and treat each other domestically and globally?

Should we honor him and his message within the sale pages of our local retailer? Continue reading
