10 Reasons to Come See The Mardi Gras

More than Christmas and almost more than my birthday, Mardi Gras is my favorite time of the year. It’s so magical that just about anything can happen. It Was 5 Years Ago that the Saints Came Back to the Superdome

The New Orleans Times-Picayune ran a series this past week commemorating the 2006 reopening of the Superdome for the New Orleans Saints’ home opener a little over a year after Hurricane Katrina, and a lot of people are remembering the spectacle of U2 and Green Day arena-rocking the Dome as the kickoff for the Monday Night Football telecast.  For me, though, the musicians who made that night special were Allen Toussaint and Irma Thomas. The Whole Gritty City

Some of you might remember PoBoyNation mentioning the film The Whole Gritty City back at the other place.  The independent filmmakers are trying to finish their documentary on the experiences of three New Orleans marching bands and the kids band leaders are trying to keep off the streets in the wake of Katrina, but have run short of funds.
