Perhaps, when a five year old Justin Bieber was chillin’ in Canada’s version of Section Eight housing, oh, right around Christmas 2001, his mom scored tickets to see Tom Cruise Narcissism Vehicle Supreme, also known as Vanilla Sky.
Since the movie is awfully hard to understand, and its director, Cameron Crowe, never really gave the audience a definite answer as to what the film is (lucid dream? anesthetic hallucination?), perhaps young Justin gets obsessed with the movie. What then? How does the Biebs resolve this obsession?
Apparently the correct answer is, become famous and then wear a sparkly gold mask in public. But don’t, as the video below explains, cover up any distinctive tattoos, because then, how will people know you’re famous if they can’t identify you? Continue reading
The 2012 Dakar Rally is going down this month in Argentina, Chile and (for the first time ever) Peru. So what the hell is Dakar? It’s a multi-stage long distance off-road car, truck and motorcycle race that used to be held between Paris and Dakar, Mauritania. Since 2009 has been held in South America due to concerns about terrorism in Africa (but they kept the name Dakar anyway).
Much like its Mexican cousin, the Baja 1000, Dakar is notoriously dangerous for both racers and the alcohol-fueled lunatics who line the courses to get a close-up view of 1000 hp rally trucks at full throttle. So not surprisingly, it’s a treasure trove of great videos. Let’s take a look. Continue reading
Eating the placenta is all the rage these days among a certain crowd. Yes, really. Why? Many animals eat the placenta after the birth, including goats. The placenta contains prostaglandin, which helps the uterus return to its normal state. It also contains oxytocin, which stimulates milk production and soothes the stress of labor. There have been no scientific studies, but research is often behind the curve. Human placenta is also a common ingredient in Chinese medications. Continue reading
In a study released by the University of California, San Francisco and published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers found that marijuana users did not suffer any detrimental effects to lung capacity with occasional use. This is contradictory to the established notion that any smoke is going to have a negative impact.
The study notes that more frequent use does have a negative impact and made a somewhat dubious claim that smoking 20 joints a month is considered a lot and would be unusual. Anecdotal evidence suggests this amount is not as unusual as the study authors might believe based on what those surveyed reported. Continue reading
Mighty New Hampshire has spoken! Every four years, a week or so after the ethanol-addled pig-men of Iowa go into their foul, waste-strewn pens (or “caucuses,”) and choose an Over-Pig to represent them at the presidential conventions, the flinty maple-miners of New Hampshire meet in their ice-caves and maple-warrens to have their say.
Willard “10k” Romney and sweater fetishist Dick Santorum had humiliated the rest of the pack in the bleak hog farms and shit-lagoons of Iowa. Michelle Bachmann had been abandoned in the snow and left to perish in the wolf-infested barrens. The rest limped or slithered to New Hampshire, burning with humiliation and a desire for revenge (except for the undead 3000-year-old wraith stoners call Ron Paul, who is beyond petty human emotions like humiliation). The numbers are in and have been tabulated. It appears that even in the face of so many great options, the great masses have really terrible taste in beer.
The best selling beer in the US is Bud Light and has been for some time now, but it only got to number one by making the flagship Bud number two and it’s been that way ever since. But due to American’s unquenchable thirst for bland beers that are also light on calories, Coors Light is now the number two beer.

As we are well into the election season, I wanted to share what I have learned from GOP Presidential campaigning so far. This is based on what I have heard from the candidates themselves and read in both the “Mainstream Media” and “Fair and Balanced” media.
- Knowing how to speak a foreign language is suspect.
- Having a college education is elitist.
- Science shouldn’t be considered over belief.
- Being unwilling to constantly profess your “faith” means you can’t be trusted.
- Believing that each person has any responsibility for the common good is un-American.
- Objecting to constitutionally legislating “morality” makes you immoral.
- Personal rights should be limited based on a specific set of non-secular rules widely open to interpretation.
- Any rules or guidelines eliminate the ability of businesses to succeed.
- It is correct that corporations are people and should be able to contribute unlimited funds to the candidate of their choice.
- “Progressive” is a bad word.
