In this edition of “I saw it so you don’t have to” I saw The Other Woman this weekend. This movie was touted as the best female comedy since Bridesmaids. I haven’t been to many movies recently, but when a trainer at my gym asked people if anyone was interested in seeing this this weekend, I said sure, why not? I need more social outings with more than just my regular group of friends and I like Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann. The bestseller turned motion picture is one of the most highly anticipated films of the fall season. That may be because Gone Girl, the book, was the kind of smartly written thriller that gave us complex characters with personalities that were equal parts deplorable and beguiling. There were no saints here. Everyone showcased their fair share of human stain and it was riveting. What it all boiled down to was a matter of figuring out which person was capable of the more heinous acts, and which was merely a victim of circumstance. And what, in the case of Gone Girl, that really meant.

I just checked my Netflix queue, and this copy of The Thing has been sitting on my DVD player, unwatched, since Christmas Eve, 2013.
You see, as a child, my mom and step-dad had a laissez faire attitude about TV watching. And with my friend, Premium Cable, I watched a number of movies that were inappropriate for my age.
