It’s 2014, and we are not commuting with jet packs yet nor are we eating food in pill form. That’s okay, because we promised ourselves that this year, we will travel more. Whether it’s realistic or not, what is on your travel bucket list? Continue reading
qotd
So, whatchy’all making for New Year’s Eve? I need some ideas and thought I’d throw it out as a QOTD. I had thought of making actual dinner food but realized it will be too heavy and the only thing in my head right now is the ever-dependable / boring hummus platter. Good, but you know, dependable. For some of you, it’ll be an app or connection to Seamless or an equivalent website (if old school, a phone and a takeout menu). Continue reading
We at Crasstalk are a sophisticated and erudite bunch. We drink tea with our pinkies raised and say “Pardon me” after we pass gas.
Wherever we go, we always make sure to stop by the local museum. Whether it’s the Louvre in Paris or the SPAM Museum in Austin, Minnesota, we love them all. Continue reading
Now is the time of year where everyone makes a list of the top critically praised music of the year, but what were you really listening to? What albums got the most plays on your iTunes? What songs did you constantly rock during your morning commute? It’s time to give us the new music you couldn’t get away from in 2013.
Personally, I had limited opportunity to explore a large variety of new music. But this was a surprisingly strong year for fans of late 90s style Hip-Hop, so I indulged mostly in that genre. But I did get in a few other gems. Continue reading
I ain’t even gonna front. I will stop everything I’m doing, and turn volume up on the tv/computer/radio when this song comes on.
Do you ever turn on one of the rerun channels on TV and gawp at the way things used to be? Shows filmed in the 1960’s and 1970’s have a bevy of corded telephones, stay at home wives and casual racism. Such a wide range of straight white people on the TV back then. Even the degenerate, heroin-addicted criminals on Dragnet look so clean-cut, the men always wearing collared shirts and dress shoes and women in dresses and heels with a big poufy do.
Now let’s say the year is 2063. What about today’s culture (movies, television, pop songs, web videos, Internet memes, lifestyles) do you think will be passe, trite, cliched and past their prime? I have a few guesses. Continue reading
You’re in a movie theater, or you’re giving a presentation at work, and a portal to the past opens up near you. Maybe it’s back to the 1980’s, or the 1880’s, or the 1280’s. If you had the chance, would you jump in, not knowing if you could return to our time?
Since you’re thinking about whether you would go or not, what are your criteria for making the decision? If you go back to the 1980’s, you have no Internet, probably no cellphone, and if your livelihood depends on your skills with technology, how would you support yourself? Continue reading
Like others, I have spent a decent amount of time browsing through OKCupid and the like, looking for the elusive date. And like others, I can be incredibly judgmental.
So, when reading a profile, there’s some things that make me just completely glaze over. Things like wine, jogging, and “the outdoors” tend to make me yawn. Continue reading
So many great moments! From Bots’ night out with 4Loko, to Chris’s housekeeper’s candy sampling, to 400-comment Funderdomes, to the Atlanta meet-up with the cat circus, you people have brought the funny and the poignant, both online and IRL, for some 3 years now. Which moments have been your favorites? Continue reading
