QOTD: Your Favorite New Music of 2013?

Now is the time of year where everyone makes a list of the top critically praised music of the year, but what were you really listening to? What albums got the most plays on your iTunes? What songs did you constantly rock during your morning commute? It’s time to give us the new music you couldn’t get away from in 2013.

Personally, I had limited opportunity to explore a large variety of new music. But this was a surprisingly strong year for fans of late 90s style Hip-Hop, so I indulged mostly in that genre. But I did get in a few other gems. Continue reading →

Kanye West Concert Review

During “All of the Lights” Kanye told everyone to shine their cell phone lights and I was able to capture this cool shot.

Kanye West played the New Orleans Arena on December 5th and I was lucky enough to attend this concert so you won’t have to. I won’t lie, the $59 ticket price tag along with opener Kendrick Lamar are two factors that heavily contributed to my decision to purchase a ticket. I never know when to show up for a concert that isn’t a festival, so after work that day, I browsed the internet to find out if there was an act going on before Kendrick Lamar. No concert review for this even had a mention of Kanye’s opener, but I did find out that his set list was a staggering 28 songs long. “Great,” I thought, “I’m not getting home until the middle of the night.” Continue reading →

Top 6 Acts of NBC’s “The Sing Off”

Our family watched it as we decorated our Christmas tree and, then, for the next two Christmasses after that. This year, my 6-year-old mentioned it in a school project in which he was to list family holiday season traditions:

factsSometimes you’re sitting there singing along with that song you’ve had a million times and then you stop and say to yourself, “hey, wait a minute, that doesn’t make sense and is actually wrong.” Well those lyricists out there sometimes just jam words together, don’t actually know what they’re talking about or change reality to fit their rhymes.
