QOTD: How Do You Take Your Coffee?

Monkeybiz, when he is not stabbing roommates or going on safari with his cat, is ordering a “Venti iced coffee, sweetened, with cream, light ice.”  Here is what I order: “Coffee.”  Verona if I’m at Starbucks, Major Dickason’s if I’m at Peet’s, and I don’t remember if I’m at a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.  If the place has a Clover, I’ll get that. If it’s in the afternoon, I’ll get a mocha.  I like chocolate, and if I have that in the morning the sugar really messes me up.  If I’m at a diner and the coffee is old or not very good, I’ll put a little bit of sugar in it.  At home, I use a French Press on the weekend with Peet’s Major Dickason’s, and during the week when I don’t have time to deal with the press, I use a Kuerig with the Green Mountain French Roast pods.  I’ll put a little bit of sugar in that.  I’m willing to sacrifice a bit of quality for ease of use on weekday mornings. QOTD: What’s the Dumbest Thing You’ve Ever Gotten in Trouble for?

Reddit today has a popular post where users share the dumbest things that have gotten them in hot water with various authority figures. Note that “dumb” here can carry a double meaning – the infraction in question can be so trivial or harmless that the idea of someone bothering to discipline you for it is absurd, or it can be a genuinely stupid act on your part that you totally deserved to be in trouble for (but is still funny regardless). QOTD: What Have Your Fellow Crasstalkers Inspired You to Make in an Open Thread?

One of the best things about Crasstalk is that not only do we have really incredible user-generated content, we also have something called an “Open Thread” where people just talk. Are you having computer problems? Chances are that DogsofWar will have an answer or can point you to the right place for one. Do you need to look at something pretty? Princess Lala will fix you right up. Do you need a place to share a dirty story after a night out? Everyone will give you appreciative feedback. But one of the main things we like to talk about is food. Recipe Sunday (much like the name indicates) rolls around once a week, but everyday you will see someone talking about something fun they’ve eaten, something great that they are cooking, or maybe just Tacky Tick offering pie to new commenters. QOTD: Lotto Fever or What Would You Do with Half a Billion Dollars

First off, let’s be clear about one thing: half billion dollars sounds much better than $500 million, doesn’t it?

My kids saw the news last night and wanted to buy some lottery tickets. They were despondent when they found out you needed to be 18 years old to play. We had an interesting discussion last night about what they would want to buy if they won. Continue reading

QOTD: What Do You Doodle?

While sitting in a marathon meeting with my boss, my mind eventually wanders. I go from taking notes to doodling on the side of my notebook. I usually draw a little house and depending on my level of boredom the house will get a door, a window, a chimney and maybe even some grass. He’s still talking and it doesn’t pertain to me? I’m likely to draw a square within squares or some other geometric shape and keep repeating until the spotlight is back on me. This is not new. If I had any notebooks from college or high school, you would see the same drawings.

What do you draw when you’re bored?
