I’m never satisfied. There’s always something that I’m missing. When I lived in Los Angeles, I missed New York. When I got back to New York, I missed California. And now that I’m in Mexico, I miss the US. I mentioned it to someone a few days ago, and when they asked “what exactly do you miss about it,” I had trouble thinking of a tangible answer. I finally mumbled “familiarity,” which seemed acceptable enough.
I’m guessing that while I’m generally a malcontent, everyone misses something, whether it’s mom’s cooking or Gilligan’s Island reruns or an old friend or life in 1996.
Looking back at all the things you used to enjoy but can’t at the moment, what do you miss the most?
