So there is ComicCon and now there is “BronyCon.” “Bronies” are men who adore the television cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. This summer’s convention, was held this weekend at The Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus NJ. Get this: It was SOLD OUT with 4,000 attendees, according to BronyCon’s Facebook page. Males who are Bronies are also referred to as ‘gentlecolts.’ Continue reading
Well the Supreme Court’s ruling on Arizona’s immigration laws certainly have brought out the crazy hasn’t it? Here are a smattering of some of the political cartoons that struck a chord with me and this subject. Again, please do not assume that I endorse a single one of these images. I either found them thought provoking, infuriating or just plain funny. Continue reading
I have a friend who when she receives an Evite to an event or party, always answers “maybe.” Not that she is any busier than the rest of us Connecticut housewives, but regardless, the initial answer is always maybe. It isn’t until the day of the event, or if you prod her with an email because you need to firm up your plans, that she finally give you a definitive answer. Her constant waffling drives my friends and me positively crazy. Continue reading
My town of Fairfield, Conn. has a very pretty New England-style beach on Long Island Sound, yet I cannot stand going there to swim. It isn’t the fact that the LI Sound is dirty and gross, as that has improved dramatically over the years, it is the SAND.
Many of you have obviously enjoyed the stories of my daughter’s foray into internet shopping crime. I am unsure if you found her gumption or my rantings/ravings more amusing.
HollandaiseMess suggested that we trade our stupidity in a post. So please use this opportunity to regale us with your stupidity, cunning and deceit. Don’t forget to include if you were caught and what the consequences of your actions were. The mother in me is curious whether you decided to repeat the offense or if you learned your lesson. My children always get me lovely Mother’s Day gifts. I’m excited to discover what gifts I will be able to open with my breakfast in bed Sunday. Today I learned that my children gave me a great gift on the day of their birth: I became smarter.
Funny, after all of my children were born, I didn’t feel smarter. In fact, I felt downright stupid as my memory seemed shot from the lack of sleep. Little did I know that my maternal hormones were actually causing my brain to increase in size.
What a week of some cartoon-worthy political events. War on Women. Failed Missile Launches. Return of the Buffet Rule. Santorum bowing out. GSA party scandal. Zimmerman arrested. Crazy stuff makes for some good cartoons. I invite you to post cartoons you find worthy as well.
As a reminder before you start Thunderdoming — I will certainly be posting cartoons that I do not agree with the opinions of the artist. So please do not make the assumption that by posting a cartoon here that I agree with it. I simply found it interesting, enraging, thought-provoking or amusing.
With that caveat, let us begin.

I love a good political cartoon and I even like ones in which I disagree with the premise. I appreciate the quick, visual manner in which the drawing illustrates the opinions of the artist. I think they are more talented than many op/ed columnists who need 700+ words to illustrate the same point. Continue reading
First off, let’s be clear about one thing: half billion dollars sounds much better than $500 million, doesn’t it?
My kids saw the news last night and wanted to buy some lottery tickets. They were despondent when they found out you needed to be 18 years old to play. We had an interesting discussion last night about what they would want to buy if they won. Continue reading
