QOTD: Are You a Beach or a Pool Person?

My town of Fairfield, Conn. has a very pretty New England-style beach on Long Island Sound, yet I cannot stand going there to swim. It isn’t the fact that the LI Sound is dirty and gross, as that has improved dramatically over the years, it is the SAND.

Our town’s sand has the unique ability to stick to you like glue. Even rinsing your feet and body in the outdoor showers isn’t enough to get those pesky grains off of you.  It takes soap and a wash cloth. It ruins every bit of fun I have there, including the fact that open containers are perfectly legal!

Assuming a perfect world, I would love to have a beautiful pool that overlooks the ocean without me having to sully my feet and body with sand, even the good powdery sand from the islands.

Enter San Alfonso del Mar, a resort located in Algarrobo, Chile. They have the largest pool in the world and has been built overlooking the Chilean central coast, not terribly far from Santiago.  This gorgeous pool is over a kilometer long and is large enough to sail a boat in it.  Built right along the ocean, it is the perfect marriage of clean water plus sea views without having to get all sandy and gross.

That pool is impressive.

This crowd has opinions on such mundane items like cilantro, so I suspect you have opinions on this matter too.

So what are you: a beach person or a pool person?
