One of the comments I read the other day (yesterday?) got me thinking about this (Thanks, Delta!). I’d say that I’m left-handed but not exclusively and maybe not for most of the day. I write, eat, draw, and if I played guitar, I would be rockin’ out with the lefties. However, I use scissors, play tennis, and use a computer mouse right-handed. That last one was the first conscious decision I had ever made about which hand to go with.
According to the Daily Infographic, 15% of people are left-handed. They tend to be smarter but more alcoholic. According to my research of myself, I think that holds true. Continue reading

The government of Sweden has a Twitter account and every week they hand the keys over to a new citizen curator. On paper it sounds like a fantastic way to show the world the diversity of its society and to start conversations with people a government official wouldn’t appeal to. Unfortunately, this week’s ambassador has used Twitter to display a level of ignorance and anti-semitism that has shocked the international community and, in a much more difficult feat, the internet population at-large. In a speech to the United States Chamber of Commerce last month, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney laid out his grand vision for the reform of American education. At the core of his speech was “school choice”– a term that is usually refers to state-sponsored vouchers that can be used toward private school tuition. Romney’s plan, however, goes beyond just the privatization of the American education system. He wants students to be able to enroll in any school of their choice, public or private, with the aid of 25 billion dollars in federal funds. Continue reading
