Mad Men Open Thread: Season 6, Episodes 1 and 2

Mad_Men_Season_6,_Promotional_PosterI am so excited that it is time for Mad Men again. We’re going to have our Open Threads on Sundays and then a Post-Mortem Post on Mondays. Big thanks to APieceoftheContinent who will be helping me out with the post-mortems this season. In the open threads we’ll talk about the show as it happens, so it will be FULL OF SPOILERS (sorry left coasters). In the post-mortems we will be digesting the previous night’s episode. Feel free to share your thoughts and links to favorite recaps in the post-mortemsn. This will also be FULL OF SPOILERS.

WARNING: THIS THREAD WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS! IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE EPISODE OR DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200. STAY OUT UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SPOILED. Continue reading

Project Runway Season 11 Episode 11 Live Blog

project-runway-26Darlings, Richard HallmarQ is gone. Long live Richard HallmarQ. We wept with Layana (aka The Ingenue, and, not really) as she wept about…something. We rejoiced as Patricia (aka Water Lily) finally showed something akin to a personality when she gave Richard some much-needed side-eye.

Stanley (aka Urkel) won a challenge! Good for him! There’s something about him I don’t like, however. Continue reading

Project Runway Season 11 Episode 10 Live Blog

project-runway-26Darlings, we are at it again! Sadly, there were no hot men to help us through the wretched excess that is this season of Project Runway.

Last week, the challenge demanded the designers produce ready-to-wear looks for Lord & Taylor. The winning design will be featured by Lord & Taylor and sold for way more than it’s actually worth! Of course, you know what that means…

Michelle won. Again. I hate everything.

Well, we’re at episode 10, and I’m pretty sure that the producers have demanded that the drama quotient be upped significantly. Let us snark in the comments! Continue reading

Smash Season 2 Episode 8 “The Bells and Whistles” Liveblog

Smash_Title_Card

Ok, folks. Here we go. The second-to-last Smash live blog. I love to hate watch this show, but not enough to stay home on Saturday night to watch it live. This episode is called “The Bells and Whistles.” I’m sure it’s about Gay Kyle and Jimmy Who joining a boys choir. Or begging for change on the street. Or aliens. Hell, it’s probably all three.

See ya in the comments! Continue reading

Doctor Who Week: The Best Companions Who Never Were

There are two absolute truths to life lately;

1. The newest episode of Doctor Who premieres Saturday night on BBC America here in the states.

2. I’m kind of obsessed.

The Doctor has run across some pretty badass friends in his adventures. Here are some that never got to travel with him in the TARDIS, but made a major impact anyway.

Caution: Spoilers in the reply.

Project Runway Season 11 Episode 9 Live Blog

project-runway-26Last week, this show was rainin’ men! The Thunder From Down Under, an Aussie male band of stripping brothers, showed up to have the remaining designers make some tear-away looks for them.

Children, the resulting looks were HOT MESSES, but no one was paying attention, as we were all ogling the man flesh parading around in front of us. I think someone got sent home, but for the life of me, I can’t remember who. Continue reading

“Economics of Marine Biology” Community Season 4 Episode 7 Live Blog

Pierce_the_DickishDean Pelton tries to lure a potential rich student (aka whale) to college and he’s enlisted some of Greendale’s favorite human beings (Britta, Annie and Jeff) to help him to the dismay of Pierce Hawthorne aka Pierce the insensitive/Pierce The Dickish/Grandpa The Flatulent. Meanwhile Abed makes a new fraternity (The Timelords of Gallifrey?) and Troy and Shirley take a Phys Ed class.

Sorry about the mix up last week. There was a post ready but I didn’t alert anyone in time.

Last week’s episode wasn’t bad. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad. You can’t “Chang” a Chang as Chang is still the same crazy ass mad dictator dressed as a Cuban Cab Driver and working with someone (Dean Spreck?) to get back at Greendale.  Jeff became the pariah (again) due to his dickish behavior at trying to uncover what Chang is really up to while Abed’s cameras capture the goings on in all their glory. Smash Liveblog Season 2 Episode 7 “Musical Chairs”

Smash_Title_Card

Another Tuesday, another shitty episode of this shitty TV show. Turns out NBC has finally figured out what we’ve known about this show all along and has decided to move it to Saturdays starting April 6. So we’ve got this week and then next to suffer through this together. The show’s showrunner, Josh  Safran says the season finale will also be the series finale. (h/t to DottieB for the info.)

Anywho – this week’s episode is called “Musical Chairs.” I’m sure it’s about Jimmy Who going to IKEA to pick out some new furniture for his apartment. Continue reading

Project Runway Season 11 Episode 8 Live Blog

project-runway-26Once more unto the fashion breach!

Well, well, well. Last week, Crimes of Fashion: Teams Edition brought us an unexpected surprise in the form of a double elimination! Tu and Kate were auf’d.

However, such a surprise came at a cost. Michelle (aka Portlandia) was given the win, thus ensuring that she will be even more insufferable for at least a couple of more episodes. Continue reading
