I ain’t even gonna front. I will stop everything I’m doing, and turn volume up on the tv/computer/radio when this song comes on.

Kanye West played the New Orleans Arena on December 5th and I was lucky enough to attend this concert so you won’t have to. I won’t lie, the $59 ticket price tag along with opener Kendrick Lamar are two factors that heavily contributed to my decision to purchase a ticket. I never know when to show up for a concert that isn’t a festival, so after work that day, I browsed the internet to find out if there was an act going on before Kendrick Lamar. No concert review for this even had a mention of Kanye’s opener, but I did find out that his set list was a staggering 28 songs long. “Great,” I thought, “I’m not getting home until the middle of the night.” Continue reading
Chicago Alderman Pat Dowell has proposed a plan that bicyclists in the city should pay a $25 annual bike registration fee as a way to raise revenue for the city. Ms. Dowell is hoping this would be an alternative to Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s proposed cable television tax hike. She also thinks that all cyclists should be required to take a “rules of the road” safety class. The safety part I can get behind, the tax? Not so much.
As the fee is proposed as just a way of increasing revenue for the city of Chicago and does not directly benefit transportation let alone cycling, I’m not sure it’s a good idea. Even Emanuel doesn’t think so. Continue reading
One of the very first bars I got drunk at in Chicago is called Twisted Spoke – the one on Clark Street, not the one on Ogden in the West Loop. My friend Christine and I got drunk on $2.75 pints of Woodchuck Cider.
Since then, the owners of Twisted Spoke sold the Clark Street location, leaving only the location in Chicago’s West Loop. In the past couple years, this has become the site of what my friends call “Brunching Hard,” which means we sit at the bar with some fancy drinks, get drunk, and maybe eat some food. Continue reading

The last time I watched the MTV VMAs it was to live blog it for you people. I had a good time watching and making fun… I think. Though from what I remember there were lots of fast cuts and it was clearly geared at people younger than me. I didn’t feel the need to watch it last year, but the rumors of an *NSYNC reunion have piqued my interest. I guess I have to watch and see if it actually happens.
You win MTV!
I’ll be posting here and responding to comments. Can’t wait to see what everyone thinks!
Obviously, there will be spoilers after the jump. Continue reading
Recently we ran a post about the best and worst degrees for getting a job. My comment was, “Does it count if I turned my two arts degrees into an accounting career?”
My undergraduate degree is in Communications and I have a Masters of Arts Management. What I would absolutely love to do is produce a multi-day music festival similar to Lollapalooza. Continue reading
Crassers were way over cronuts by the time the general population was just hearing about them. Good for Dominique Ansel for creating something so good and for his PR team for creating such a hype. I planned to hit up the bakery when I was in NYC in July, but by then people were lining up for hours to just get their maximum of two cronuts. Fuck. That. Shit.
While browsing one of my favorite recipe sites, tastespotting, I found a recipe for Homemade Cronuts. I had all the ingredients in my cupboards and I’m confident in my bread-making skills, so I decided to make some.
If you’ve ever made bread before, the process is similar. Warm up the liquid (milk, in this case), add the yeast and let it sit. When the yeast starts to foam, add the sugar, eggs and vanilla. Mix together and then add the dry ingredients. Knead the dough until it’s smooth and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes. Continue reading
