The Hilarious Twitter Response to CNN’s Epic Fail in Today’s SCOTUS Ruling

So, CNN had one doozy of a “Dewey Defeats Truman” moment today.

Haha! No, seriously that’s patently terrible. You CNN people are supposed to report the news. No one cares if you’re first to report it by nanoseconds, you just need to be accurate when you do it or it defeats the whole purpose of it being news. Even though being so wrong you’d need another word for it like “fuck wrong” is also news of a sort. And to that point, your main competitor for news releases, Twitter, had a fantabulous way of celebrating just how wrong you were, CNN. All will live on in screenshots.

It all seemed to start off so well. So much confidence, eh?

But then, well, then this happened. The “Fail” of a generation.

And it was all downhill from there. First the retraction.

We find out CNN’s nickname.

We find out what Wolf does in his spare time.

Miguel Bloombito is confused. You mean CNN didn’t report about his fourth term? Always so preoccupied that CNN. Preoccupied with being wrong.

But maybe Al Gore could have saved us all from a gaffe the size of a hipster’s beard.

Well, at least Gore’s hippie television network found it funny. NO! Serious. NO! Funny! Okay. Tragic.

The New Yorker tries to be prophetic through their giggles.

Beloved New York news anchor, Pat Kiernan, finds it baffling because CNN does news for a living, yes?

Jeffrey Toobin, CNN’s chief legal analyst, tries to cover. “This can be saved, right? It’s not terrible is it? Am I getting fired?”

And finally with all things that go tits up…let the memes begin!

Congratulations, CNN. You guys have managed to turn an epic event into a lesson on being slow and steady to win the race. Sure, we learned this in third grade, but we can all appreciate your attempt at the refresher. Leading by example is the way to go. Well, except if you’re a bunch of politicians. They kind of depend on you guys being right. HA!

In the Twitter graveyard of deleted tweets you’ll find a mass of them generated today. Politwoops, which tracks deleted tweets from politicians, has them all. Reps. Aaron Schock, Dennis Ross, Virginia Foxx, and Buck McKeon you guys should never listen to CNN again!
