Pick Mitt Romney’s Campaign Theme Song

Seeing as how the GOP nominating season is effectively over now that Rick Santorum is done talking about coal miner’s ovaries or whatever, the Romney campaign can now focus on important things. Important things like sending a bus to follow the President around at his appearances, or trying to make a thing of the fact that the President ate dog meat as a child.

Really, the campaign should focus on a much more important next step: picking a campaign theme song. A campaign theme song can tell voters so much about who you are as a candidate. Are you hip, down to earth, yet totally inspirational and leadershipfull? (Yes, I made that last one up)Then you need a song to reflect that. The President famously embodied his theme of change in the 2008 campaign with Sam Cooke’s ‘A Change is Gonna Come’. His opponent, John McCain, did less well, originally picking the Foo Fighter’s ‘My Hero’ before the group asked him to knock it off. He never really settled on one after that, which kind of embodied his entire campaign.

Where does that leave Romney? Let’s think of a couple of songs that truly embody Romney and his aspirations to the Presidency.

Queen-‘I Want it All’

Does it get more perfect than this? You’ve got a quarter million in the bank, haven’t had to work a day in nearly 15 years, and even then ‘work’ is questionable. What else could you possibly want?

En Vogue-‘My Lovin’ (Never Gonna Get It)

Given the GOP’s disconnect with and, frankly, attacks on women’s rights, this song is probably more appropriately directed AT Romney. Then again, a selection like this might show a keen sense of self-awareness we’ve yet to see.

Of course, we’re open to our commenters options, as always. Do your worst in the comments.
