Nerd News Roundup: Will Work for Experience Points

Hello, faithful friends. I know last week was rough without your fix, but daddy is back with more of the good stuff. Unfortunately, all is not well in the kingdom of Nerds. The House of Mouse has taken the axe to the House of Ideas. Brand new shiny shows have been shuttered before they were even unlocked. Even iconic underpants are collecting unemployment these days. On the flip side, video game goliaths are expanding their market and superheroes find new ways to produce new jobs. You’ll find this and cake in this week’s Nerd News Roundup!

Gaming

  • Good news! GameStop and Netflix had a threesome with Direct 2 Drive and had a baby. Now you have to stay with them forever!
  • Sony to add “districts” and quest metagame to Playstation Home. Somewhere, Xzibit just got excited and he doesn’t know why.
  • You had me at “dragons with jetpacks”.
  • And now for a quick comic break.
  • On one hand getting Skyrim DLC first is like watching your fat cousin get first crack at the cake while you’re made to wait an hour. On the other hand, that cake might be underbaked and taste bland.

Comic Books

  • This is the reason why Public Works and construction/demolition are likely the highest paying jobs in the Marvel Universe.  More destruction is coming.
  • Disney banishes Marvel’s Marketing team to the Negative Zone.
  • Kevin Smith has rebuilt him. Made him stronger, faster and capable of selling out it’s first print.
  • Crasstalk’s own Seth Madej brings us the origin of Sadman in all of its original glory.

Television

  • The biggest surprise is that this show is not a remake of the UK series Jekyll.
  • Demons and Gangsters have found a perfect home in Chicago. Now they’ll get a Showtime series.
  • I’m just dying to use a pun about Locke and Key not being picked up by a network but I’ve decided to take the high road. Instead, take a look at this extended trailer for the show.
  • A show based on DC Comic’s Deadman is in development. Sadly, Lily Tomlin is not being considered for the lead role.

Movies

  • If Charlie’s Angels were just a tad more promiscuous and a lot more deadly, they’d be Danger Girl.
  • Aperture Science is proud to present a short movie about The Enrichment Center and would like to remind you that escape attempts are strictly forbidden and any attempt to do so will be met with pity and mocking.
  • Is it considered going commando if Superman wore his underpants on the outside of his clothes?
  • Horizons explains why the Jetsons live in the clouds: Tom Cruise and Aliens are down there. Not sure which is scarier.

Join us next time where we look at Fall jumpsuit fashions for the Weevil on the go.
