It was announced today that the Obama administration has authorized the deployment of 100 US troops to capture the leader of Ugandan guerrilla group the Lord’s Resistance Army. In a letter to Congressional leaders Obama noted that the troops would not engage in wide scale operations against the LRA, but rather would be tasked with finding Joesph Kony. Kony is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes. Continue reading

This makes her think she is some kind of expert on girls who rock and so she is offering up this little list for your consideration. Note: the list does not contain hip-hop artists because I am not enough of a fan to do a proper list. If you had asked the thousands of students, transit workers, teachers, nurses, unemployed, children, and retirees who showed up at Foley Square Wednesday afternoon about why they were there, you would have gotten thousands of different responses. But beyond the continuing debate regarding what the movement’s specific goals and demands are, the overwhelming sense in the air was that something historical was taking form, and these people had come to be a part of it.
