Someone Knew You Were Waiting for a Reality Show Called, “All My Babies’ Mamas”

Since we haven’t Honey Boo Booed ourselves into a coma yet, something called “All My Babies’ Mamas” is reportedly on its way to the Oxygen network. This sounds like a recipe for disaster heretofore unmatched by the television gods who keep the airwaves full of noxious human beings who have developed their own niche of “Agog Viewership.” Yup, if you’ve gone about your daily lives never contemplating some crazy random thing’s potential abhorrent ripeness for television fodder — believe that someone else has. Terrible Decisions in Sid’s Life: Cocktails in the Corner Pocket

Luke’s father had some in with CBS and managed to score Final Four tickets. I lived in New Orleans at the time, so Luke and two other friends came down to stay with me and make it an informal bachelor party week for Luke.

Before they arrived, it was my job to head down to the French Quarter, where CBS had set up operations and a huge hospitality room, to pick up the tickets and the passes to get into the CBS parties. Five tickets and five passes.

Views of Three Southernmost Points

big_island_2007As an unorthodox traveler, I, by default, choose unorthodox destinations. Here are three.

1. Southernmost point of the 50 United States.  Ka Lae (South Point), Big Island of Hawaii.

Subjectively, this is the most fascinating of the three. A 12-mile roughly paved road leads you from the main ring road that hugs the circumference of the Big Island to South Point. It is very windy, as evidenced by the funny looking trees; the huge, rusting windmills; and well, the wind. Once in a while, cattle will randomly appear. Continue reading
