The Why Chronicles

Children are constantly in the process of learning. They need to ask “Why?” to learn things. However, sometimes, a child can “Why?” you until you completely lose your patience and end up on the floor weeping because you simply cannot answer any more questions.

This sampling of questions took place during a 3 minute car ride:

  • Why is Batman called Batman?
  • Is it because he’s a bat and a man?
  • Or is it because he’s a man with bat powers?
  • Why is a bat called a bat?
  • What if bats weren’t called bats?
  • What if bats were called soup?
  • Why is it snowing?
  • Why is it snowing instead of raining?
  • Why are there clouds?
  • Why is there a sky?
  • Where does the sky go at nighttime?
  • Why are we awake in the daytime and not the nighttime?
  • Why doesn’t snow come into the car?
  • Why do cars have roofs?
  • What if it snowed all day?
  • What if it was hot and it snowed?
  • Why doesn’t it snow in the summertime?
  • Why are you turning?
  • Why are you driving so slow?
  • Why do cats have paws?
  • Why don’t cats have thumbs?
  • Why don’t cats talk?
  • Why don’t the cats like the dog?
  • Why do you stop when the light is red?
  • Why don’t you stop when the light is green?
  • Why do they call the color red “red?”
  • Why is my sister wearing a coat?
  • Why is her coat pink?
  • Why don’t boys wear pink?
  • Why do babies live in their mommies’ tummies before they’re born?
  • How do the babies get into their mommy’s tummies? (Oh Lawd, here we go)
