Coming Attractions: Fright Night Gets Lost in Disturbia

What do you get when you mix an 80’s vampire cult classic with modern day Hollywood ruination? Colin Farrell and Anton Yelchin slinking around in what looks like Disturbia meets The Lost Boys: Just One Corey Left.

Now, as vampire movies go, Fright Night isn’t at the top of the pack, but it did have some winning, cheesy charm and a few really good gory moments. Mostly, though, it was a fun time, and a cool date movie full of campy chills meant to entertain while you cuddled with your sweetie. After all, you had Roddy McDowall getting his misguided Van Helsing/Vincent Price on, and Prince Humperdinck and Marcy D’Arcy doing the funkiest, arm flappingiest, trance dance that was ever invented complete with vampire claws and bugged out monster eyes.

How all this translates into Farrell and Yelchin taking this “Oh, so seriously” is one more riddle for our Twilight plagued sensibilities since one thing those movies will tell you is Vampires. Are. Serious. Business. There’s like birthing and marriage and everything in those movies! Lunacy. Bad vampire movies are like an infection, apparently. However, as for this, we’d prefer they just kill us slowly…oh, so slowly.
