Project Runway All Stars Season One: Into The Woods

Tension and conflict. Action and resolution. These are the themes for the premiere episode of Project Runway All Stars (PRAS). The producers artfully sprinkled our designers around lower Manhattan and had them act surprised as they “ran into each other.” So you had Sweet P standing on the curb like Cyndi Lauper in 1982, Elisa Jimenez floating above the sidewalk on a cloud of eldritch energy, Rami handing out neck braces to all the men who got whiplash cruising him. Kenley dashing to and fro with pinking shears, hoping to poke someone’s eye out. Anyone’s eye, really. As always, there are spoilers inside, so read on at your own risk! Continue reading →

John Cazale, The Greatest Actor Ever?

He isn’t well known. In fact, he’s pretty much on the level of Richard Jenkins or Charles Durning, you don’t know his name but you know his face. He was the traitorous brother, the dumb scapegoat, and always a supporting character to leads like DeNiro and Pacino. Oh Em Gee, guys! It is the Project Runway we’ve always fantasized about–the season that includes the likes of Mondo, Miss Sugarbaker, Adonis Rami, Austin Scarlett, and Our Lady of Rosettes, Kara Janx. Project Runway All Stars Season One – Meet The Judges

Before we go a moment further, I want everyone on the interwebs to know that this header image was The Worst to deal with. So there.

Now that we have that biz out of the way, here comes a cold reality. No Bitchy Orange. No Meana Garzilla. No Heidi. No Tim. But we do have Isaac Mizrahi, doyenne of value priced Target fashion lines, and we do have Joanna Coles, a lovely lady who works at Marie Claire and who was a judge on the last regular season of Project Runway.

We also have Georgina Chapman (who?), a former model, a designer, and oh here it is, wife to Harvey Weinstein. Ring a ding ding. Can’t imagine how she got the job. Continue reading →

Kanye West, Crazy Man? or Crazy Man With A Mission?

Kanye, who has never been known to be modest, or quiet, or controversy-free, would like you to continue experiencing the performance art he considers his fame, now with an extra dollop of erratic, strangely garbled self-promotion and a heaping spoonful of “Just What Is He Talking About?!” Continue reading →
