Expand Your Horizons on Valentine’s Day

Looking for something original to do on Valentine’s Day? Skip the flowers and chocolate. You can always buy those on Discount Flowers and Chocolates Day (February 15th). Instead, try something that will really get your partner going.

Bowling!
Our local Lucky Strike lane is offering a great promotion. Couples that bowl a perfect game win a complimentary wedding reception at the bowling alley. I wonder if the shoe rental is included? The reception is held in the bowling alley’s VIP area. I can only imagine the luxury. They also throw in a food and beverage package because it ain’t a wedding without nachos and stale popcorn. Lucky Strike has locations throughout the country.

Waffles!
Waffle House is once again offering the “Waffles are for Lovers” Valentine’s Day celebration. A list of participating locations is available on the website. The restaurant is offering white tablecloth service by candlelight accompanied by the aroma of bacon and waffles. *Swoon* Did you know you can send e-cards through the Waffle House website? What a snazzy way to invite your special friend for a date. Guests are encouraged to share their photos on Instagram so I know what I’ll be looking at all day on February 15th – pictures of hipsters at Waffle House.

Focus on the Family
The Focus on the Family site has some rip-roaring fun date ideas. These include:

  • A question and answer session with your spouse at a coffee house
  • Put the kids to bed, grab the baby monitor and watch a movie on your laptop. It’s a driveway movie night out. You can wear pajamas, pop some corn and bring your treats all for a value price. If your car heater doesn’t work, maybe you can fog up the window with some hanky panky. Just make sure you’re married in the eyes of God.
  • Find a card that expresses your love for your spouse and exchange the cards over fast food and soda. Read them aloud for that extra touch of romance.
  • Have a dollar menu dinner. Purchase food items that are only a dollar. Then, go to the dollar store and purchase a treat to share. For instance, the dollar store is chock full of generic Rice Krispies treats that are just a smidge stale. As long as you have all your teeth, you should be fine.

Clothing Optional Resorts
If you happen to live near Desert Sun Resort in Palm Springs, California, they have a special package for couples. There will be a special couples dinner on the 14th (don’t spill soup on yourself!) There will also be a DJ dance in the Bare Buns nightclub. On Saturday, enjoy karaoke and check the spa specials during the weekend. They offer a couple’s massage with a complimentary bottle of champagne with two Desert Sun logo glasses. I actually really want those glasses. Other clothing optional resorts around the country offer specials so check out the ones in your local area.

Swinger Parties
The swingers love Valentine’s Day. There are lots of events around the country. You can find a comprehensive list of swinger parties around the United States at http://www.swinglifestyle.com/swinger/party/.

Tips from a Pro
I can’t think about love without checking up on my favorite polyamorist, Kamala Devi. Check out her website kamaladevi.com for information on her of recurring events like Sacred Snuggle Parties, Polyamory Potlucks and Tantra Talks. Unfortunately, at this time, the party is limited to the San Diego area, but hey, you can always travel for the fun.

She’s hosting a special Poly Potluck entitled Be My Non-possessive Valentine on February 13th. This will help you loosen your boundaries. It’s a vegan potluck and requires a ten dollar entrance fee. I will pay the fee for anyone who is willing to attend and tell me about it.
