Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is scheduled to come out in January 2013 (trailer after the jump). You can see how the pitch went- “It’s a monster-killing movie! Only with Hansel & Gretel! Everyone’s heard of Hansel & Gretel!”
This follows on from such recent films as Snow White & The Huntsman (which, if Wikipedia is any guide, grossed at least $200m more than it cost to make) and Battleship for which the pitch was clearly “Let’s put hot chicks and military hardware together with something everyone’s heard of… well, Transformers was done already… I know! Battleship!”. Battleship also turned a profit.
Surely the brains trust at Crasstalk can top these! The rules are simple. Something cool, something well known that ideally has nothing whatsoever to do with the cool thing, mash up, and laugh all the way to the bank. Winner buys us all drinks from the advance they get from the studio.
