Not All College Degrees Are Created Equal

The excellent econ-blogger Derek Thompson over at The Atlantic recently pointed out a new report this week from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce that looked at the economic prospects of college graduates. What they found: your future earnings and employment prospects could vary wildly depending on what major you choose.

Want to be unemployed after graduation? Architecture runs away with that trophy!

The Georgetown study also looked at earnings by major.

This one was even more shocking to me. I always knew engineering was a stable career choice but those overworked engineering students can expect to make even more than the smarmy business majors or Future Zuckerbergs of the computer science department.

Know someone who’s looking for a college major? Send him or her the full report… and don’t let them major in unemployment benefits the arts.
