There’s always a television show that seems to catch everyone’s attention and love, but yet you hate it.
It’s a show that has won awards. It’s number one in its time slot every week. The show’s actors are on every daytime gabfest and the media obsesses about their every move. It’s a show beloved by all…except you. No, you hate this show with all that is within you and cannot figure out why everyone else loves it. You hate the stupid characters, the stupid writing, the stupid sets; yet everyone else won’t shut up about the show and when you try to bring up the show’s…deficiencies, you’re treated like Elaine Benes:
For me, it’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” I used to watch that show after “Desperate Housewives” and, for the life of me, could not–and still cannot–understand why people liked that show. It’s a soap opera with boring, plastic lead characters. It has abysmal storylines that are so depressing, the commercials alone rival the Sarah McLaughlin ASPCA commercials in terms of maudlin emotional manipulation. And “McDreamy?” Seriously? “McDreamy?” That’s the pet name you come up with for a cheating doctor with passable hair? And how about Meredith Whatserface–holy mother of Spock, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more boring female character who wasn’t named Bella.
So, which “beloved” TV show makes you weep for humanity?
