Herman Cain’s New Ad Heavy on Smoking, Smokescreens

One of the joys of the expansive, still terribly unsettled Republican Presidential field is that everyone with even a whiff of a chance is still making speeches, collecting money, and turning out advertising.

When the advertising is from the ‘minds’ behind the Herman Cain campaign, the possibilities are endless. And mindless. Video after the jump.

Aside from the obvious question of ‘No, really, huh?’, the spot doesn’t really seem to introduce anything of substance. It’s just his campaign manager, apparently on a smoke break, talking in broad strokes about how great Herman Cain is. He speaks of making the country ‘united’ again. This seems obvious coming from the campaign that has accused blacks of being brainwashed into voting for Democratic candidates and blamed the unemployed for being unemployed. Nothing says ‘uniter’ like trashing minorities and insulting wide swaths of the formerly working middle class.

The Gaga-esque track in the last 15 seconds is a nice touch though.
