Last Friday I spent the day “working from home” because I was anxiously awaiting my new iPhone 4S. It arrived around 1:30 PM Central and activated after about five angry hours. iOS 5 has some nifty new features, many of which where previously available if you got them by jail-breaking your iPhone. The hows and whys of which are a little outside of the scope of this post. Here’s a keen video about why you’d want to jail-break your iPhone, in case you live under a rock or haven’t been paying attention. Continue reading
I’m filling in for The Grand Inquisitor as she is not done fanning herself over Bots’ brother, Trash_Melon, in his I’m Muslim, Ask Me
Anything. So, this morning, I’m taking a different look at the news. I’m reading the conservative new sources so you don’t have to. Fair and balanced. I report, you decide.
From our friends at Foxnews.com, we have these newsworthy items:
- OWS is now as racist as the Tea Party. But it is over Jewish bankers, so maybe that is ok?
- Soul Pizza’s Economist who helped him create 9-9-9 is waffling.
- Misery Index is at a 28-year high, thanks to inflation. See, I told you it was coming. Not to worry though, the Misery Index under Carter was much higher.
- Rahm Emmanuel is acting like a nice conservative. Take that teacher’s unions!

Sorry about that, even The Grand Inquisitor gets tired sometimes. Continue reading
Despite being raised by our saintly mother not to be sharia-loving America-haters, my brother Trash_Melon just had to be different and converted to Islam in 2002. He has impeccable historical timing, obviously. Continue reading
Last night Google introduced the next version of Android, Version 4.0 (also known as Ice Cream Sandwich).
Ice Cream Sandwich, or ICS, represents the biggest step forward for Android since the transition from Android 1.6 (Donut) to Android 2.0/2.1 (Eclair), which represented the first time Android was considered a true player in the mobile operating system world.
So, let’s talk about what ICS brings to the table, future ICS devices, and the future of Android itself. Continue reading

As some of you know, I spent the past summer in Hong Kong. I was there for an internship helping people apply to the UN for refugee status. This will be nothing at all about that experience, although I could write for days about the refugee status determination process and its many faults, especially in Hong Kong. Instead, as I walked through the many food markets, I was reminded of some life lessons that I would like to share. Continue reading
This is Crasstalk’s Toronto correspondent reporting. Occupy Toronto protesters have taken over St. James Park, and I decided to go investigate and see what was what.
Frankly, we would have preferred Pigs From Space, but that’s not in the cards; Zombies to take over all of teevee; Droids at the breakfast table, now that’s progress; Nic Cage strikes again! But this time we could possibly like it. Protest corporations not Batmobiles…and much, much, more!
Today’s Hollywood Caller is bursting at the seams! Continue reading
If you’re a developer of real estate, someone somewhere will ALWAYS find a reason to oppose your project. Today’s evidence of this comes from the Times, where they wrote about four proposed high-rise towers in Washington Heights.
If you’ve ever followed any sort of local zoning controversy where you live, you’ll know that the status quo-loving NIMBYs always manage to come up with the loopiest arguments against building anything ever. You could turn a half-burning crack house into an orphanage and these people will complain that your orphanage “doesn’t fit with the existing character of the neighborhood.” Continue reading
