Hump. Hump. Humpidy hump.
Hump hump hump hump hump.
- An Interview with Barney Frank. (New York Magazine)
- This year’s fight over taxing the middle class and the rich. (The Atlantic) I often ask myself, am I opposed to paying more taxes? No, I’m not. My issue is being asked to pay more taxes before the hedge fund manager that made a billion dollars last year and pays a lower tax rate than I do is.
- Important issues the candidates won’t raise in 2012. (The Atlantic)
- From the meth labs of Democracy: Missouri state senator introduces legislation that would nullify federal laws. (The Atlantic) And yes, I used nullify for a reason.
- ALEC cuts controversial task force. (The Atlantic) Unfortunately, this is window dressing. It’s a lizard detaching it’s tail to get away from a predator. You have to cut off the head.
- Obama’s polling looks a lot like 2008. (The Atlantic) Duh and or hello? Unless I’m mistaken, the GOP hasn’t made any inroads into recruiting gays, blacks, hispanics, women, and anyone under the age of 40 in the last four years.
- Grover Norquist has no interest in bipartisan cooperation. (The Atlantic) Of course he doesn’t, because he’s a slimy toad person who, along with Newt Gingrich and Lee Atwater, is responsible for probably 90% of the problems with the Federal Government today.
- The Tea Party’s Mitt Romney Crisis (The Atlantic) You reap what you sow.
- The Evidence that might be Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Undoing (TPM) Well, this should be a fun story to follow.
- Senate Budget Chairman Kent Conrad is bringing the Bowles-Simpson plan up for a vote (TPM) The Bowles-Simpson plan is six tons of crap, but it’s okay because not a single Republican will vote for it, and most Democrats won’t either. I’d like to see someone bring up the Congressional Progressive Caucus’ People’s Budget and have Democrats run on that.
- People are finally starting to get that Republicans aren’t really interested in Deficit Reduction. (TPM) Rather, they’re interested in cutting taxes for the wealthy and corporations, slashing government services for everyone else, and creating a permanent economic underclass with no hope of ever moving up the economic ladder.
- Catholic Bishop compares Obama to Stalin and Hitler (ThinkProgress) While I have no quarrel with Catholics, how anyone can willingly follow people that claim to be “Men Of God” and yet spew such vile hatred is absolutely beyond me. Moreover, how any organization can claim to follow the teachings of Christ and not immediately rebuke this asshole is unfathomable, and decidedly un-Christlike.
- Romney lies again, this time about John Kerry’s tax returns. (ThinkProgress) They’re going to have to cordon off the RNC in Tampa as a Fact-Free Zone.
- Former GM Executive Bob Lutz slams GOP’s pure fiction and knee-jerk hatred of electric cars. (ThinkProgress) While I appreciate Bob Lutz standing up for an innovative product being made by an American company in America, it would help if he weren’t such a colossal asshole and climate change denier.
- US troops pose with body parts of Afghan insurgents in new photos. (The Guardian) If anyone knows why we’re still dicking around in Afghanistan, please let me know.
- Barack Obama’s father tops colonial list of Kenyan students in US. (The Guardian) Fuck me sideways, the Right Wing Hate Machine is going to have a fucking field day with this. I hope you all brought umbrellas, because we’re in for a Category 5 Shit Storm.
- North Korea threatens retaliation after failed rocket launch. (The Guardian) Against whom, exactly? The West didn’t need to blow anything up; the North Koreans did that just fine on their own.
- Andres Breivik claims allegiance to the Knights Templar (Al Jazeera) As someone that’s played a lot of Assassin’s Creed, I’m suitably amused, and slightly concerned.
