Summer is officially here, and one of the most important decisions you will make is choosing the right summer cocktail: crisp, refreshing, and fruity without being too sweet. My new obsession is St. Germain, the french elderberry liqueur that seems to be all the rage lately. After trying out a few different recipes, I settled on this concoction. The gin helps balance out some sweetness and the sparkling water gives it just a bit of fizz.
This recipe makes one serving.
Ingredients
- 3 ounces Bombay Sapphire gin (or vodka)
- 1.5 ounces St. Germain
- 2 medium strawberries, plus more for garnish
- 4 basil leaves
- pinch of sugar
- splash sparkling water, club soda, or champagne
Preparation
Muddle the berries, basil, and sugar in a shaker. Add the gin, St. Germain, and lots of ice. Shake it. Shake it some more. Strain into a martini glass and add a splash of sparkling water. Garnish with a strawberry.
