This morning I read an article about roly-poly Americans and our passion for chain restaurants.
Deep down, many of us harbor a secret love for them. I, personally, have a fondness for Outback Steakhouse. I worked there part-time for years and got hooked on some of their menu items. I really liked my restaurant so it was hard to look down on it; and as a waitress, I knew it was a good gig. People will wait for hours for a table at Outback. When the fever hits, you can’t say no. Have you had their cheese fries? Phenomenal. They could lead to a coronary, but goodness are they delicious. Cheese fries notwithstanding, they also serve grilled onions with their steaks, which is how the Gods commanded it should be done.
I’m not wild about any other chain restaurant since I’ve noticed that the food usually tastes a lot like nothing. So, I still harbor a soft spot for Outback even though I know deep-down it’s probably no different than the others.
