Yes, you read that correctly. Saturday night Floyd “Money” Mayweather made his grand entrance at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, ahead of his title fight with Miguel Cotto. It turned out to be a great matchup but one of the highlights of the night was when Mayweather came out dressed in a Michael Jackson-esque studded leather jacket and accompanied by 50 Cent, the hulking professional wrestler Triple H and teen pop songstress Justin Bieber.
Personally I flove a good fight entrance. If I were a boxer or MMA fighter, I would put together the perfect entourage, put on a crazy costume and then blast the most obnoxious music possible. So I admire Mayweather’s choices here. Yes, Bieber is a Canadian lesbian who makes awful music, but she’s he’s such a wacky choice for the entourage that it somehow works.
But even Mayweather’s stage entrance seems tame compared to Japanese kickboxer Yuichiro “Jienotsu” Nagashima, who apparently is a devotee of something called “cosplay.” I don’t know what the fuck is going on here. Ask Ofkinheimer….
