Why I love Al… Al Jazeera That Is

Disenchanted with blurbs, gotchas and shallow one sided reporting?

Why I love Al Jazeera, a short blurb… oh crap, I’m infected!!1!

I’m personally finding it hard to read any news item these days without casting a side-eye at the source and wondering… left wing? right wing? wing nut? Credibility is lost, and it’s not coming back anytime soon. Investigate, question, report – if I want your opinion or religious slant I wouldn’t be reading the N.E.W.S. dipshit.

Stories reported from the ground that you will never easily access from a North American source. Here are some that are currently up now:

Pakistan Under Water
101 East 23 Nov 2011 09:23 GMT
Millions are homeless and hundreds dead in Pakistan after monsoon rains, but how can this nation rise above the crisis?

The Al Jazeera slavery debate
25 Nov 2011 14:31 GMT
Watch our panel of experts discuss modern-day slavery in a televised debate moderated by Rageh Omaar.

Sierra Leone: Timber!
On Africa Investigates

Deepening Eurozone crisis?
On Inside Story

Thanksgiving Day or “ThanksTaking” Day?
On The Stream

Two Schools in Nablus
On Witness

Seriously? Where are you going to find new stories like this anywhere else? BBC? CBC? ABC? (I refer to the brits, canucks an aussies), yeah they’re okay but watered down and not as diversified.

Now to opinions. The opinion pieces on Al Jazeera are from people who hold not only honest to gum opinions (as opposed to talking points), but can back them up. Points of view that are sorely in need of being aired. Case in point: The current opinion piece on Herman Cain and the Conservative victimology which bring up Clarence Thomas, Anita Hill, sexual harassment as a bogus claim AND christian martydom!
