Welcome to week 3 of the Super Squats Club!
Last Sunday I ran my first ever 5k. I know you’re thinking it’s weird. My first race ever was a half marathon, and I’ve never even thought about doing a 5k. To me, it’s only three miles and not really worth the registration fee and the hassle of getting up early. I can run three miles on my own and don’t need another tech shirt, thank you very much. This time was different because my roommate, who endlessly makes fun of my friends and me for “paying to run” decided to run this race. This particular race was a little more expensive than I have seen for a 5k, but the SWAG was a pretty sweet running jacket.
So I was really running this race for moral support. My roommate is about 6’ 5” so his stride is naturally bigger than mine (I’m about 5’ 6”). He got a few hundred feet ahead of me at times, but I kept running and that made it easy to catch up to him. I ran with him as much as I could, but toward the end his shin splits slowed him down. I finished in 35:36 and he was exactly a minute behind me at 36:36. It’s not my best 3 mile time, but I’m ok with it. However I am really proud of my roommate.
How was your week this week?
