Documentaries To Get Your Blood Boiling

Here are a few documentaries to get your blood boiling. Who knows, watched all in a row they might make you go out and become an activist.

Capitalism: A Love Story by Michael Moore

This documentary is made by Michael Moore and features senate hopeful Elizabeth Warren. It’s an introduction to the problems that are plaguing our country and seems to have the same message that the #OWS protesters have adopted. Sure it’s a broad message but it needs to be broadcast. It took a few years but Mr.Moore is definitely happy that people are finally getting it and taking action.

The Inside Job by Charles Ferguson

This Oscar-winning documentary is the next step up from Capitalism: A Love Story. It explains how exactly Wall Street takes advantage of financial deregulation and how they caused and are benefiting from the housing crisis.

The Corporation by Mark Achbar

This documentary shows the evolution of the corporation from a wunderkind to full blown psychopath and the devastating effects it is having on our society.

Hot Coffee by Susan Saladoff

Directed by a medical malpractice attorney, Hot Coffee delves into the world of “frivolous” lawsuits and mandatory arbitration clauses that are being forced onto us by large corporations. It focuses on the lawsuit of Liebeck v. McDonald’s Restaurants (the hot coffee lawsuit) and how the media influences the public perception of such cases. It also features the Jamie Leigh Jones vs KBR/Halliburton rape case.

Food Inc. by Robert Kenner

Food Inc. points out the problems that come with mass production of food and the things we sacrifice to feed our ever growing population. It also focuses on Monsanto and how they exploit the nation’s farmers.

Jesus Camp by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady

This takes a look at the religious right. It mainly focuses on a summer camp and how it influences young children’s beliefs about the world. It’s actually quite disturbing.
