The University of California, Berkeley College Republicans are holding an “Increase Diversity Bake Sale” today that will sell baked goods based on race, gender, and ethnicity. They are protesting California bill SB185, which would allow California universities to consider these factors in their admissions qualifications. BCR President Shawn Lewis wrote in response to complaints about the bake sale,
We agree that the event is inherently racist, but that is the point. It is no more racist than giving an individual an advantage in college admissions based solely on their race (or) gender.
Hey! Berkeley College Republicans! If you want to deliver a realistic minority experience through your fucking bake sale, you’ll serve African-Americans from the back of the table, make Latinos walk through a desert and then climb a wall before they can buy a cookie, refuse to sell women a cookie unless they show more cleavage and give you a handie under the table, expose the Native American’s cookies to smallpox, and just leave the Asian’s cookies in the engineering department.
