Good evening Crasstalk. It’s weekly overshare time. Since summer vacation time is almost upon us, let’s have a vacation theme tonight. Show us you favorite memento from your travels through the world. Post a picture of your favorite vacation souvenir.
This is mine. His name is Lucky (lulz) and he is a bad ass monkey. I got him in Cape Town, South Africa when I studied there for a few months. He is just another generic, mass produced knick-knack that you can buy for cheap all over Africa. Hell, he was probably made in China. However, he is special to me because I bought him from a very kind Congolese man who was a refugee in Cape Town struggling to take care of his family against really tough odds. He had a stand in the neighborhood I worked in and he was always up for a smoke and a good conversation about Afropop and Hip Hop.

- And it’s a URL, not photo file. Crasstalk doesn’t accept files from your hard drive – only from the Internet. You can upload your photo to Facebook, Flickr, TinyPic, or any other online photo hosting site to generate a URL for the photo. For many of those LOLcats/dogs/monkeys I can’t seem to quit foisting on all of you, I use ImageShack or imgur
- Also, be sure to add a few words of text with your picture so it doesn’t get tripped up in the site’s spam filter.
- To pick up an image online, right click (or ctrl-click on a Mac) on an image and select “View Image” or “Copy Image URL/Location.” Copy-and-paste the URL and plug it into the img src html code.
