Rush Limbaugh has been back on the pills it seems. The man, who has a history of inflammatory remarks, went out of his way to call a Georgetown university law student a slut and prostitute.
Sandra Fluke was supposed to be a democratic witness at a Congressional hearing about contraception policy. However, the committee chair prevented her from speaking while only allowing a bunch of crusty old white dudes to talk on the sensitive issue. Eventually, she did speak to a democratic hearing in a very poised, and educated manner. However, to Rush Limbaugh, she was only worried about the cost of birth control due since she was “having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception.”
He went so far as to say “she must be paid to have sex… It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute.” There was some serious media backlash, and plenty of advertisers pulled their sponsorships of his show. Notably, Sleep Train, Legal Zoom, Citrix, Quicken Loans and Carbonite, all pulled spots. Carbonite CEO went on to say:
No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady. Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.
In this drug-addled prick’s apology he said “What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? … in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir.”
To this I say Fuck You, Sir. You were not being funny, you never have been funny, and you should leave comedy to the professionals. Continue being a racist, sexist, fucking bigot all you want, but don’t treat the world like morons and say you were trying to be funny. Chris Rock is funny. Patton Oswald is funny. Tina Fey is funny. You, Rush, are a worthless piece of slime who has a national radio show because you’re a voice and a puppet. Use your big boy voice and take responsibility for your actions. Quit attacking girls in their mid twenties and actually argue for your opinions like a fucking adult. Follow your own God damned advice and take personal responsibility for groundlessly accusing a young woman of being a slut and a prostitute. Respectfully, I hope you choke on your words and die in a horrible fire.
Oh, sorry, in my attempt to be humorous, I didn’t mean to make you think anyone should actually respect you. I apologize profusely for that.
