Who Knows The Mind Of God? Jamie Johnson, That’s Who

Apparently, one of Rick Santorum’s staffers knows exactly what God is thinking. How wonderful that Betty Bowers, America’s Best Christian, has a companion, someone she can relate to.

So, who is this Chosen One, you ask? Why, it’s presidential candidate Rick Santorum’s Iowa coalitions director, Jamie Johnson. In an email, he said two really interesting and insightful things. First, “children’s lives would be harmed if the nation had a female president.” Second, and this is the payload, the reason for the season: “The question then comes, ‘Is it God’s highest desire, that is, his biblically expressed will, … to have a woman rule the institutions of the family, the church, and the state?’”

Well, when Jamie Johnson puts it like that, we all know it’s a rhetorical question, don’t we? Sure we do.

Apparently some people took offense to these statements, and raised a ruckus about them, because they are not sexist anti-women religious right wing nutjobs. Nuts to them! In response to the criticism he received, Jamie said that the email was taken out of context and blown out of proportion, and also it doesn’t count because he sent the email from a “private” email account, by which he means one not directly tied to Rick Santorum’s election campaign. See? No countsies, freedom lovers! Nyeah nyeah, you can’t touch Jamie!

In an interview on the topic, Mister Johnson, who is a pastor of a church in Iowa, claimed “I was sharing my personal reflections with a friend…[T]hey were reflections on over 25 years of formal, theological study [based in] classical Christian doctrine.”
