College Football Open Thread

There’s a good old fashioned showdown in Texas, today. Texas Tech vs. The Longhorns. Who wants to bet me that Matthew Mcwhatshisface will be there? Michigan vs. Iowa is also underway; Michigan State and Minnesota are all tied up.

Later, the South Carolina GAMECOCKS will square up against the Arkansas Pig Sooie! No. 4 ranked Stanford (what up, PAC-12) will be running over playing the Oregon State Beavers *snicker*. No. 3 OOOOOOOOklahoma State Cowboys will be trying to tame the No. 14 Kansas State Wildcats.

Most of the country will be watching No. 1 ranked and ONCE UPON A TIME BCS champs LSU play No. 2 Alabama tonight. There are going to be A LOT of drunk people there. Let the smack talk begin! Continue reading →

Daylight Savings Time: It’s Good For You?

Daylight saving time finally ends this Sunday at 2 a.m. — remember to set your clocks back one hour when you go to bed Saturday night — and for many of us, that’s depressing. The day seems to fly by. It’s dark before it’s time to start thinking about dinner.

The seven-month period of daylight saving time is mandated by governments which began implementing the time switch during World Wars I and II to save energy and resources for the war effort. From World War II until recently, daylight saving in the U.S. ran from April until mid-October. Continue reading →

The McRib: A Deconstruction

I’m pretty sure this food product greases the wheels of the devil. It is a horror show covered in barbeque sauce. It is literally the decayed pork meat body of your nightmares and millions of people love it. This is why we have terrorism. Guess what everyone?! Now this rank, porcine gristle coaster and its legions of lunatic fans have something else to be concerned about.

Move Your Moola

Despite my obvious conservative leanings, I support the idea of moving your money out of the big banks. My reasons for supporting this has more to do with the fact that Americans need to support their local businesses now more than ever. The ‘too big to fail’ idea has taken this country down a slippery slope.

A non-profit campaign called Move Your Money makes it extremely easy to find a local bank or credit union to put those hard-earned dollars.  Funny enough, by moving your money you will not only be sending a message to the big banks and those in government who support them, but you will actually incur less fees and get better customer service, according to JD Power and Associates.  Who knew that being a capitalist could stick it to the big companies? Crasstalk COW: Oh, The Horror

Admittedly, Crasstalkers, I’m cheating a little bit, and writing this up on a Thursday night. Hey, a witch has to hold down a job to, you know.

The sad side-effect of this is that I’m watching Rachel Maddow right now, wondering how someone who has as much money and notoriety as Michael Moore can’t get himself a decent friggin’ haircut. Seriously, it’s like a rat’s nest that got hit by a tornado and then put through the spin cycle. Ugh.
