The barista that made my coffee this morning forgot to put sweetener in it and didn’t put in enough cream. Consequently, like my morning coffee, I am now bitter. Continue reading
Monkeybiz, when he is not stabbing roommates or going on safari with his cat, is ordering a “Venti iced coffee, sweetened, with cream, light ice.” Here is what I order: “Coffee.” Verona if I’m at Starbucks, Major Dickason’s if I’m at Peet’s, and I don’t remember if I’m at a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. If the place has a Clover, I’ll get that. If it’s in the afternoon, I’ll get a mocha. I like chocolate, and if I have that in the morning the sugar really messes me up. If I’m at a diner and the coffee is old or not very good, I’ll put a little bit of sugar in it. At home, I use a French Press on the weekend with Peet’s Major Dickason’s, and during the week when I don’t have time to deal with the press, I use a Kuerig with the Green Mountain French Roast pods. I’ll put a little bit of sugar in that. I’m willing to sacrifice a bit of quality for ease of use on weekday mornings. Continue reading
Teabag aficionado Rep. Allen West (R-FL) told supporters yesterday that he had “heard” that as many as 80 Democrats in the House of Representatives were secret Communist Party members. He then coyly refused to name names.
Let’s play a game. What have you “heard” about Representative Allen West? Hell, what have you “heard” about members of the Tea Party Caucus in general? “Heard” anything about Republican Congressmen or the Conservative Presidential Candidates?
I heard that West has as many as 14 sex slaves in his basement. Continue reading

Just what in the world is going on in the teeny, tiny brain of George Zimmerman? Continue reading
We’ve all heard the expression “You are what you eat.” I always took this to heart, being from the South, which has a very rich history of consuming very rich and high-fat foods. We always expressed ourselves through the foods we ate — well at least in my house we did. Continue reading
As most of you are aware, I have spent the last few weeks working on the Million Hoodies campaign trying to pressure the Florida authorities to indict George Zimmerman for the shooting of Trayvon Martin. It has been an emotional and exhausting few weeks. The shooting of Trayvon is a heavy tragedy and seeing the pain of his family is heart breaking.
However, it has also been incredibly inspiring to see people from all over the world come together to demand justice and show their support. I have received emails from people all over the country, hoodie pictures from elderly white ladies, and music videos from young rappers who put their heart and soul into this cause. High school students, church groups, and even politicians have put on their hoodies and raised their voices. It’s incredible, but what do we do next? Continue reading

When the queens enter the workroom, there is such a sense possibility now that we’re down to the final four. Only one more queen to be eliminated before the finale. No one is sad that Kenya’s gone. They’re still The Fantastic Four, as Latrice says, that they were before Kenya’s resurrection. So, let’s see what challenges the final four dealt with this week. Continue reading
