Did George Zimmerman’s Lawyers Just Give Up?

Just what in the world is going on in the teeny, tiny brain of George Zimmerman?

We’ve known from the start that Zimmerman’s facts of the case have been a mish-mash of strange, odd commentary, mixed with some sort of fantasy, television cop-show drama, with all the supposed statements of “You’re going to die tonight” and “You got me!” sounding much more like a conversation between Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd than a fight for survival.

Yet, in recent days the actions of George Zimmerman have just been confounding. Yesterday, there was the release of his creepily, stupidly assholish self-promoting, fundraising scheme website wherein he threw together a few quotes, emblazoned the whole thing with the American flag, and posted pictures of a vandalized Black Cultural Center from Ohio University, and a photo from controversial pastor Terry Jones, ye of attempted mass Koran burning, in an attempt to gain support, or funding, or publicity in what had to be the most ill-advised, but spectacularly telling, brainfart in recent memory of any public legal case.

Now, the Miami Herald reports that Zimmerman’s attorneys, Craig Sonner and Hal Uhrig, the latter who raised the “shaken baby defense” last week, have withdrawn from the case citing that they can’t reach their client. However, they seem to be under the impression Zimmerman contacted both Angela Corey, the case’s special prosecutor, and Fox’s Sean Hannity, without their permission, because if we knew nothing else about Zimmerman, we know that he has trouble heeding the advice of counsel or authority figures.

What in the world did he say? Why in the world would he call anyone without the express consent of his lawyers? Sean Hannity? This whole thing is becoming more and more baffling as the days progress. Could it be that everyone inside the Zimmerman camp, with the exception of Zimmerman, sees the writing on the wall so now the order of the day is “jump ship!” as fast as possible before his doomed case of bullshit self-defense takes everyone down?

It’s also been reported that he updated his “Living Expenses for George” shill website with the following statement.

I am attempting to respond to each and everyone of my supporters personally. The support has been overwhelming in volume and strength. I thank you all and ask that you permit me the time to respond to each one of you personally.

BUT, he’s not contacting his lawyers, apparently, since they say they haven’t heard from him since Sunday, but confirm that he’s left the state of Florida, but not the country. Perhaps he’s using burner mobile phones, and talking only on pay phones, like something out of The Wire. No, he’s not that smart. That’s interesting. So, just really, is he on the lamb? Is he, er, to use his own terminology heard from the Feb. 26 911 tapes, “running?”

All of this sounds like the acts of a desperate man. Sheesh. Talking to Sean Hannity? There’s nothing more desperate than that. Seriously, the prosecutor needs to hurry up and arrest this man (if they can find him) because it seems like he may be spiraling out of control, and since he still, as of now, has access to a weapon, well, let’s just say, a further unhinged George Zimmerman can’t be good for anyone.

Good lord. Please don’t let this be an attempt at an insanity plea.
